iphone does: town point park

now that I've joined the iphone cult, uhhhhh... club... I'm trying to figure out how to balance the how-much-iphone-is-too-much-iphone in the land of blog. but it's midnight, & I have wedding festivities for darling sara + daniel starting early tomorrow am, so phone photos it is.

we don't really love the area we live in, but the "city" (being norfolk) has some plus sides. it sits on the water's edge of the elizabeth river, which I like to close my eyes & pretend is like hitting the edge of the hudson in nyc. only it smells a tad better here & you're much more likely to see a disney cruiseliner than a scenic ny skyline. we had some norfolk errands on monday & had lunch in the park on the water's edge. these first two weeks of may never disappoint with their choice of weather.

norfolk, we may not love you, but if you were a person, we'd probably invite you over for dinner at least once.

on bliss & milkshakes

allison & I escaped down to the outer banks on saturday for some shopping, some milkshake & some ocean breezes. we nearly skipped the beach part, but decided at the last minute to drive down route 12 & pick a random beach to adventure onto. I was expecting wind, seagulls & tourists. what we found was nothing short of breathtaking. abnormally clear water, fellow local beach bums & the warmest waves greeted us as we climbed down the boardwalk stairs & onto the shoreline. I can't remember the last time that I felt that drawn to the sea, but we just stood in the water - silent - soaking up the perfection of that very moment. that long moment of tranquility. a moment of knowing there was nowhere else to be than on that beach, with those waves, feeling that peace.

it was bliss.
true & radiant bliss.

fairfax avenue

it's been another sweeeeet day off. having mondays off is maybe one of the best perks of the event season. seriously, sneaking around the city while everyone else works, enjoying stores without the weekend hubbub & laughing while watching traffic from our window because I'mmm noooot sittingggg in ittttt. although, while we were playing in norfolk, I SHOULD have dragged my bum out to the beach to get some more sun. girlfriend's legs are still quite... waxen.

so, this is my event season substitute for our "sunday best" series. I had to leave halfway through the service yesterday to head out to an event, which is sadly not an uncommon occurrence between april & november. but we're having a little too much fun with our ridiculous photo shoots, so commence "casual weekday attire mondays!"... not nearly as catchy. whatever, series titles are LAME, anyways.

p.s. now accepting canon lens donations. you know, if you're feeling giving & whatnot.

first home

someday:

I won't be able to tell people to "look for the green apartments - that's where we live." we may have a door that opens to the hallway instead of the smell of cedar & spring. we may not live at a complex that plants sweet flora that sometimes begs to be plucked on the way in from the car. we may have neighbors that actually participate in my door decoration competition... & beat me. we may not have a balcony, or at least one that over looks a pond with trees & very noisy bullfrogs. I may actually think fondly of those ridiculous bullfrogs. we'll have a yard instead of a wooden patio to call our own. our tree may get so faded that we actually replace our first welcome mat with a new, less worn one. this little home will be a sweet memory.

feeling sentimental. don't mind me.

that kinda day

this is fitting if today is opposite day. my litte red car broke down (again) in the middle of turning through an intersection, & then someone hit me while I frantically tried to get the car started again. it was < awesome. not exactly the adventure that I was looking for when I asked God for one last week... but I'm trusting him on this one. ;)

c'est la vie.
& my husband's mad ups are making me feel a little better.
