four good things

FALL CANDLES - Still working on making our apartment smell "like us", if that makes sense, but frankly, I'd take just smelling better than it currently does. I have a stash of Harvest scented tea lights that are covering every surface available now that it's officially fall.
POMEGRANATES - We're on Day 24 of Whole30 & thrilled to see that pomegranates are showing up at our local markets. We're enjoying them as snacks or paired with a brussels sprout hash... & dreaming about pomegranate scones.
TARTAN SCARVES - All the plaid. & the bigger the scarf, the better. I basically don't want to be able to see past my wool blanket-scarf all fall/winter. Saving my pennies for one of these pretties. This picture is a double whammy, as I recently painted my nails black & I may just keep it for the next four months. Obsessed.
ARTWORK - Speaking of obsessed & saving pennies... We have two blank walls in our family room & we both agree it's time to invest in a real piece of artwork. Satsuki Shibuya popped up on my Pinterest feed & it was like falling in love at first sight. I know she's the one. LOVE her work.

four good things

LIGHTS - Our new place has a gloriously huge patio out back that I am aching to turn into an extension of our teensy living space. Very sadly, we don't have an outlet outside, but I'm on the hunt for solar lighting.
WOODEN BEADS - My friend Amelia found a darling local vendor in Richmond, VA that makes & sells wooden bead necklaces, & I have managed to wear mine almost every other day. Pick the right colors & it will match nearly EVERY outfit.
AUGUST STYLE - Once again, people need to calm down with the anticipation of all things fall. I try to avoid jumping into the autumn jubilee until September, but my Pinterest feed has me secretly dreaming of booties and jackets. I love this outfit because pairing a jacket with shorts seems like a nice homage to it still being August & oh, I don't know, REALLY HOT?
POTATOES - For those of us in the Whole30 universe, it was a big freaking deal last month when white potatoes were added to the Things You're Allowed to Eat list. Jared & I are starting another Whole30 next week, & I'm maybe a little too excited to eat something besides sweet potatoes in my favorite Whole30 stir-fry dinners.

LOFT BEDS - I am so thrilled to HAVE a new apartment to move into after quite the hellacious apartment hunt but my, oh my, is our new place teeny. I keep day dreaming about building a lofted bed for just a smidgeon of extra space.
GIN - I've been on a bit of a gin kick this summer, mostly due to the fact that I refuse to go to the liquor store alone, & with Jared gone the last three months, I drank whatever he had left on the bar cart. Currently obsessed with this basil French 75.
WISH I WAS HERE - This album has been the soundtrack to our move, & each song is perfection. It's been on repeat the last couple of weeks, so I know whenever I hear it in the future, it will take me back to this wacky summer. Can't wait for a date night with Jared once we're both finally in DC to go see the film.
WEDDING BOUQUET - I almost... almost threw my dried wedding bouquet with this most recent move. Such a sentimental thing to still have but omggggg it sheds so much. & the dust! It made the trip to Washington sitting in the passenger seat, so it lives to see another apartment... But I'm still searching for a practical way to use it in decor. Loving this garland, but not confident I could manage to keep the flowers in tact. We shall see!

four good things

APARTMENTS - With our move to DC a little over a month away, apartment hunting online has become my new obsession hobby. It's a rotten business that has to be done, even when it keeps you up way too late, makes you want to cry & most definitely will not end in an ivy covered building.
IPHONE CASES - My Rifle Paper Co. iphone case cracked recently, & even though it's going to have to stick it out until we get new phones in October, I'm still dreaming of picking out one of my friend Kelsie's wildflower cases. They are absolutely dreamy AND available online. She's basically a crafting goddess.
KIMONOS - This adorable trend will have come & gone by the time I have found a kimono that I'm willing to commit to. I have gone shopping at least three times for the express purpose of purchasing a kimono to lounge in, only to end up with new socks, earrings & a tshirt at the end of the trip.
BREAKFAST - I hate breakfast. I always have. But this Whole30 thing is making me realize how important it is, so I'm scouring Pinterest for breakfast options that I can make in advance, freeze & reheat fast in the mornings. Lara Bars are also doing the trick, although I think I'm technically cheating by eating those daily. THE DRAMA.

GLASS COFFEE TABLES - The list of things to sell/make keeps growing as our July move-out date approaches, & the trunk that has served as our coffee table is on the sell list. Glass tops are our current replacement obsession.
SOAP ROCKS - Our trip to the OBX found me in way too many knick-knack stores that sell unnecessary decor like these soap rocks that I can't stop thinking about. At $13 a pop, I held off but they're soooo pretty. Waaant.
PALETAS - I basically pin recipes for these things all year round & maybe make them twice, but GOAT CHEESE. I even bought some IKEA popsicle molds last month in hopes of furthering my paleta skills this summer. I'm prepared.
BEACH UMBRELLAS - The last couple of summers have found me in the shade of a floppy hat, even on the beach, so we're investing in our own beach umbrella this summer. These brellas have me inspired to add my own fringe to our future chosen one.

LAVENDER - I made lavender simple syrup for the first time last year when I hosted my friend Dani's lavender & lemon themed bridal shower. It's a springtime must & I cannot wait to try Eden's lavender mojitos at Easter brunch.
SPRING HAIRS - You can barely tell, but I added some orchid to my blonde last month, & I cannot WAIT to go back to Wynter & add more. It's actually a dream come true to have some pink in my hairs. LOVE.
EASTER EGGS - My sisters & I (with assistance, or supervision? from the menfolk) have begun taking Easter egg dyeing very seriously over the past couple of years. Then, we make some very seriously tasty deviled eggs.
LINEN SHEETS - Must. Have. Since pink hair has gone from to-do to to-done, owning linen sheets has moved up the list. I daydream about pulling those straight out of the dryer & straight onto the bed but oh yeah. Need a dryer.

SPRING DECOR - The bug has hit - Maybe it's because we spend so much time indoors during the cold months, but good gracious is it time to get some new colors & fresh air up in here.
TRUSTY BOOTS - For as long as I can remember, Virginia's March showers have brought April showers. This year's showers have been especially cold & horrible windy, but my, how those Hunter's are always up for a challenge.
LOVELY NAILS - I have never been good at the at-home manicure (like, I'm actually terrible at it), but Sally Hansen's "Insta-Dri" has been a game changer for me.
MINTY FRESH - Allergies are already shaking their groove thangs around this Bethune apartment, & herbal remedies are soothing our way through the sniffles & sore throats. Fresh mint + my June Jar is my current saving grace.

BEACH DAY - We've had five days of glorious 65 degree weather... Just enough of a taste of spring to really start eye-balling the swimsuit section at Target & begin serious planning for our spring break beach vacation with my family.
AIR PLANTS - I can't even count how many herbs & succulents I've killed since we moved into this apartment, so the next test of my green/black thumb will be air plants. Fingers crossed.
OPEN WINDOWS - It's already time to start dreaming about our next apartment once our lease is up in June. After living in our super old building with mostly painted shut windows, we're prioritizing windows that open & *hopefully* a balcony.
ICE CREAM - I'm not usually an ice-cream fan, but the red velvet ice-cream we had on Valentine's Day started a wave of sweet eats around the Bethune abode. It might be a small problem. But also delicious.

HOMEMADE SCRUBS - Can't get enough of them. So far, this face scrub (that my sister-in-law recommended - Thanks Alex!), this lip scrub, & this foot scrub are getting me through this cold month.
BIRTHDAY CAKE - I can't stop pinning cakes. Which is fine, because we have lots of winter babies between our two families, including Jared.
SNOW - Our little city got it's annual 4 hours of snowfall two nights ago, & waiting for the ice to melt on the roads has been every bit of cozy that I hoped it would be.
COPPER - Copper everything. Rose gold everything. Jared & I frequently make plans for our dream home, & so far, the pots & pans are definitely copper. All we have to do now is become millionaires. Easy.
